Your recreation area – our home.
The holiday region around Tyrol’s largest lake presents itself as a varied, family-friendly destination –
in all seasons.
Standing on the shore of Lake Achensee in summer, you will find an atmosphere that you would hardly expect in the mountains: beaches with turquoise-blue water, sailors, surfers, kiters racing across the waves, and excursion boats with happy holidaymakers on board. Some locals therefore call Lake Achensee the "Tyrolean Sea", with a wink of course. Austria's emperors already valued the crystal-clear, picturesque lake between the Karwendel Mountains and the Brandenberg Alps as a summer resort.

Cross-country skiing in Pertisau am Achensee - pure pleasure!
winter and snowshoe hiking
Enjoy the beautiful nature around Lake Achensee on snowshoes or while winter hiking.
The snowy winter landscape invites you to relax and dream and ensures that you forget everyday life and focus entirely on yourself and nature.
The best way to try out snowshoe trapping is at the ski school in Pertisau. They organize an original trapping tour to the alpine hut every Thursday during your "Achensee" winter holiday.
Tobogganing
At Lake Achensee, tobogganers can choose between six natural toboggan runs , which cover the spectrum from family-friendly to fast-paced and challenging over 1.5 to 3.5 kilometers.
From the Karwendel cable car station, it takes around 45 minutes to walk to the toboggan hut. Afterwards, 1.5 km of tobogganing fun awaits you.
Alternatively, you can start right outside our front door and walk into the Triestenautal with your toboggan.
Tobogganing fun can also be had from the Zwölferkopf - the Karwendel cable car takes you up and a very long toboggan run awaits you.
You can also take the lift to the starting point in Achenkirch or use the Rodlexpress to get up in Pertisau.
Tobogganing at night is especially fun. Please ask at the tourist information office. Incidentally, the toboggan run in Achenkirch has even been awarded the “Tyrolean Natural Toboggan Run Seal of Approval” by the state of Tyrol.
snowkiting or paragliding
You glide over the snow-covered meadows or slopes on skis or a snowboard. You are pulled by the force of the wind, which you capture with a kite (a large steerable kite).
The snowkite school offers all possibilities, from introductory courses to professional weekends, to learn snowkiting or to improve what you have learned.
Summer at Lake Achensee
Hiking & Climbing
The Achensee is surrounded by two mountain ranges, each of which has a unique appearance. The Rofan and Karwendel mountains offer the best conditions for an unforgettable hiking holiday with 500 kilometers of marked and well-maintained hiking trails.
The offer ranges from simple, flat paths, such as those in the Karwendel valleys of Pertisau, to leisurely "family tours" and challenging routes including "summit victory". For the first few meters of altitude, the Rofan cable car and Karwendel cable car are the perfect "ascent aid" and enable an easy mountain experience without great effort.
Rad & Bike
The Rofan and Karwendel mountains offer perfect conditions for pedalling. The variety ranges from leisurely flat tours to challenging trails in the mountains.
Enjoyable cycling
Due to the perfect topographical conditions, Lake Achensee also offers a number of tours for cyclists who want to explore nature in a pleasant way. The "gentler" cycle paths lead along the lakeshore into one of the romantic side valleys or to well-known alpine pastures, which can also be easily reached from the towns.
Demanding tours in the mountains
Challenging and action-packed mountain bike routes of all levels of difficulty can be found in all locations in the holiday region. These officially approved routes mostly lead along forest and farm roads, away from any road traffic.
The Achensee also serves as the starting point for the famous Karwendel circular tour , which leads through the mountain range of the same name. With a length of 305.5 kilometers and an ascent of 6,896 meters, it is considered the king of tours among mountain bikers.
golf
There are two beautifully situated and perfectly maintained golf courses in the Achensee region. With this excellent infrastructure, Achensee has long made a name for itself among golfers.
The Achensee region offers golfers an extensive infrastructure. The two golf courses in Pertisau and Achenkirch are well maintained and are of a high international standard. The driving range in Pertisau, which can be used on both sides, and the new golf simulators in the Wiesenhof and Pfandler hotels, where you can train even in bad weather, underline the excellent conditions for golfers at the Achensee.
The two mini golf courses in the region offer a slightly different variation of golf.
Sailors, surfers, kite surfers, swimming, diving
It is the spectacular natural world that makes the region around Lake Achensee so special. As the largest lake in Tyrol, Lake Achensee is also a refuge for many sailors, surfers and kite surfers. In summer, they meet sun worshippers who are hungry for a swim and who enjoy not only the breathtaking view but also the clear water of Lake Achensee at the region's lidos.
